Grand teton national park elopement

Wyoming elopement • 8/22/24

Y’all this Wyoming elopement was an unforgettable core memory for the couple, their family and me.

Their day was filled with epic views, family, their pregnancy gender reveal, adventure, good food and beautiful little moments sprinkled throughout.

Why couples love to elope in Grand Teton National Park

If you crave a breathtaking, intimate setting to exchange your vows, GTNP is it. With the dramatic mountain peaks, serene lakes, and beautiful forests, the park offers some of the most stunning natural backdrops.

Whether you choose an alpine lake ceremony, secluded meadow, or an epic mountain summit, the awe-inspiring scenery will make your wedding day feel magical and unforgettable.

Getting ready

My husband Ethan and I showed up to their stunning airbnb in Tetonia, Idaho in the morning to start getting ready.

I’m not only an elopement photographer but also a travel wedding hairstylist making this an easy-peasy experience for eloping couples like these lovebirds. Ethan doubled as a second photographer and their officiant too.

So I started with Crystals hair while Ethan took photos, with a few important breaks to pet Bentley, their cutie-patootie golden retriever. When Bentley wants sneaking pets from Ethan, he begged dad to hang out with him. You’ll see it's safe to say Bentley probably had the most fun and surely thought it was the best day ever.

How dreamy are these wedding details? The baby breath, custom designed rings and lace.

TEtonia, idaho Wedding Ceremony

Ethan and I worked with Crystal and Darren to create a custom wedding ceremony script that was unique to them and their love story. It was a stunning, sweet, ceremony with a sand unity ceremony.

dog cake gener reveal

Crystal and Darren found out they were pregnant a few months before their wedding and decided to make it an extra sweet day by doing a dog cake gender reveal at the wedding while their family was all in once place.

I colored Crystal’s hair a few weeks before the wedding and she brought me the envelope the nurse gave her with the gender in it. They didn’t know, not a single family member knew, just me and the nurse. I didn’t even tell Ethan, I wanted there to be NO chance this gets spoiled.

I sent the gender to Emily, the cake maker, so she knew what color frosting to put inside the cake.

After taking some detail photos of the cake and Bentley’s bandana we got everyone set up outside before letting Bentley loose to eat his cake and make the reveal.

When I tell you that Bentley had the best day ever..

Reception

The airbnb was buzzing with joy and excitement for Crystal, Darren and their baby boy on the way.

Darren’s mom worked so hard in the kitchen and made food that any chef would take notes from. They set up a beautiful table where they enjoyed dinner and dessert together while taking in the view of the mountains.

After dinner Crystal, Darren, Ethan and I were off to GTNP for sunset elopement photos.

On the drive we stopped for a moose on the side of the road, the first one we’ve ever seen, then we continued on, admiring breathtaking drive until we got to our first spot..

Mormon Row Elopement photos

We ended the night at the iconic Mormon Row for blue hour, which is better than golden hour in my opinion. The colors and soft lighting make blue hour feel extra romantic and dreamy.

Love note

Lovdahl Photography captured our engagement shoot in beautiful Duluth, MN, and then traveled all the way to Jackson, WY, to photograph our wedding. Not only did she take stunning photos, but she also styled my hair for the wedding, and it was absolutely perfect. It’s so rare to find someone who excels in multiple creative fields, but Alyssa truly does!

Her husband joined in to assist with the wedding photos, and together they made the entire experience so much fun. They worked seamlessly to ensure every moment was captured beautifully. She even worked wonderfully with our dog, Bentley, capturing the sweetest photos of him that we’ll treasure forever.
